It has been a long time coming but we are finally within sight of launching a new version of the CheckDog user interface as well as some new functionality!
We are VERY excited about this. CheckDog was our first product and maintains a special place in our heart.
We have been somewhat distracted with the growth of our Twitter management tool ManageFlitter over the last year or so but we still remain as committed as ever to the evolution of CheckDog.
The main elements of this upgrade include:
- Updated and improved user interface (couple of screenshots posted below)
- Integrated broken image and broken link finder
- Updated pricing plans
We understand that change is often difficult - especially when you have been using the same user interface for a long time - and there may be some teething issues. But ultimately these...

We have been working hard on a CheckDog upgrade.
The upgraded version will include a totally reworked user interface.
We are also excited to announce we will be providing our Link Check module for free on the Leopard plan! Currently it is only available on the Elephant plan and higher. There will also be a Link Check only plan available.
We expect this new version to be available within 3-6 weeks.

We are happy to announce that the spellr.us system has been successfully upgraded.
Changes include:
- Significant usability and processing speed improvements.
- Various bug fixes
- Various feature enhancements.
Outstanding issues: There appears to be a small glitch with outgoing emails - so email reports and login confirmation emails may not currently be received - we are aware of this and looking into this issue.

We will be doing some major infrastructure updates to our core backend systems over the weekend July 30 - August 2 2010.
There may be some system downtime at times. Please be patient with us. All should be resolved by August 2 2010.

Ok!
So the new infrastructure has been thoroughly tested and is all in place - we are hoping that by weekend of Saturday 8 August 2010 our brand spanking new infrastructure will be in place for all of our users to use. If there are any delays we will let you know on this blog.
This upgraded system should be blindingly fast and stay blindingly fast.
Our existing system is still a relic of our prototype and it outgrew our client base. A couple of months back we literally started from scratch and built new backend infrastructure that will allow for growth.
The main thing is our system should soon be super fast for all to enjoy.

We are excited to announce that we are in the very final stages of testing our new spellr.us infrastructure. The new version will be made live once we have ironed out any remaining bugs.
We know that at times our system has been under significant load which has caused problems for some users.
We have spent a significant amount of time and resources totally reworking the spellr.us backend infrastructure to allow for lots of future growth. Hopefully all load issues will soon be a thing of the past.
We appreciate your patience - the improved speed and performance will be significant and greatly improve your spellr.us experience.

Business Insider just posted, “Fact-Checking and Copy-Editing Don’t Happen as Much on the Web,” citing a study conducted by The Columbia Journalism Review that compared publications’ print and web copy-editing standards. Turns out, 48% of online-only copy is edited less rigorously than print-only copy, while 11% of online-copy is not copy-edited at all!
